Dehn masterfully captures the essence of the Jazz Age and the French Fascination with African entertainers of that era. This drawing was most likely intended for Vanity Fair.
Also verso has a small ink sketch of a woman in a feathered hat, and the penciled question, "Was this used in The Liberator?"
